Trip Resources
Pre-Trip
Getting ready for a multi day excursion can take a great deal of
time and energy. There are internal forms to fill out, people to
talk to, buses to book, committees to meet - generally a whole bunch
of hoops to jump through. YoWoChAs Outdoor Education Centre wants
to get you through the process with as little trouble as possible.
Once you book your visit to YoWoChAs, our staff will be there to
help you out – with answers to tough questions, goal setting,
ideas for fund raising, program design, logistics, etc. Then, once
you arrive, we are able to lead the entire program or follow your
lead, whichever you prefer. Basically our staff is here to help
you; we know outdoor education, you know your group. We can capitalize
on each other's skills and get the job done quickly and efficiently.

Considerations and Planning With YoWoChAs Staff
The Trip
Once your schedule is complete
• Divide participants into activity and sleeping groups
• Draw up a schedule of set-up and clean up chores
• Put together supplies you will need for your visit (arts
and crafts supplies, sports equipment, log books, et cetera)
• Have participants and leaders complete Camper Information
and Permission Forms.
• Let YoWoChAs know of food allergies, special diets and final
numbers one week in advance.
Post Trip
After the trip is finished, there are a few considerations that
will help evaluate, wrap up and keep the memories of good times
fresh.
• Evaluation Questionnaires - Should
be filled out by leaders and participants and sent home to parents
to evaluate whether people thought the program was worthwhile and
fulfilled the goals that were set. Suggestions on how to make the
program better can really be helpful for next time.
• Slide night - Putting together
a slide show, video, or scrap book can be a great way to keep memories
fresh or help in planning future trips.
• Thank yous - should be sent to
all the people involved in making the program happen: teachers,
parent volunteers, principle, committee members, participants, and
so on.
